The USA, alone, exports between 800,000 - 1.4 million tons of used clothes each year.
At the same time, each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. That comes out to over one million per minute. On average we only recycle one plastic bag in every 200 we use.
Enough plastic is thrown away each year to circle the earth four times. We currently recover only five percent of the plastics we produce. The average American throws away approximately 185 pounds of plastic per year.

It is devastating to see what we humans have done to the planet in the last 50 years. Yes, in just 5o years we have done more damage to the planet than anything else in history. It is time to wake up, pay attention and ACT to keep what is left of the planet alive.
There are so many solutions to the problems of waste and energy that have already been produced it is seriously time to start arguing about who is responsible for destroying the planet and move towards protecting it. Each choice you make makes a difference. When 8 million people make daily choices to treat the planet with respect it will have a dramatic impact. the time is now. We will not have the same options in ten years. Please, for the sake of all our children, pay attention, look around you and remember there is no "away."
